De Rode Olifant (The Red Elephant) has had only three occupants in the past 100 years: the American Petroleum Company / Esso, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, and Spaces.
It is one of the most iconic buildings in The Hague. Spanning over 10,000 sqm, this building has a rich Art Deco interior, a collaboration between several artists, is designed to impress. The unique 50-metre-long mural in the atrium, created by Dutch artist Christiaan de Moor, is an oil-on-linen canvas later affixed to the wall. This artwork depicts oil workers at a refinery.NSI acquired the Rode Olifant in 2011. At that time, the building suffered from significant deferred maintenance, and, having been developed for single-tenant use, it was not adequately future-proof. During its renovation in 2012, NSI ensured that the Rode Olifant was transformed to accommodate multi-tenant use. The aim was to create an office environment with spaces that facilitate working, gathering, and meeting, highlighting the building’s distinctive qualities.
