Bentinck Huis is an iconic building located at Lange Voorhout 7 in The Hague. The building, a national monument, has a rich history that stretches to well over six hundred years.
The timeline of Bentinck Huis, which for centuries housed many important politicians, is closely linked to the development of the nearby houses of parliament ‘Binnenhof’ and Lange Voorhout, the pre-eminent avenue in The Hague. After its acquisition in July 2018, NSI invested approximately €8 million to modernise and enhance the sustainability of the office. Bentinck Huis now features a fully-fledged second entrance, a spacious atrium designed as a meeting point, a large newly landscaped courtyard, and fully refurbished office floors. Additionally, the redevelopment placed strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, intelligence, and user comfort. The new Bentinck Huis is equipped with a thermal energy storage system, solar panels, and a green sedum roof. Sensors have been installed across all office floors to measure temperature, CO2 levels, and occupancy, enabling automated systems to optimise energy savings and enhance comfort. User comfort is maximised by combining smart data usage with the ability to adjust the climate in each room via a control panel or app. Through this investment, NSI has revitalised a unique historic monument for The Hague.
