Sustainability at NSI
ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) is firmly on our agenda and more and more organisations are actively including sustainability and the future-proofing of buildings in their housing decisions. At NSI, ESG is an integral part of all activities and the decisions we make. The crucial challenges that lay ahead in terms of climate change, sustainability and well-being have only reinforced its importance.
Some of the measures we use to assess our current sustainability activities are GRESB, ISO 50001 and energy labels. On this page, you can find all corresponding certificates.
GRESB
GRESB is an independent and leading organisation that studies the ESG factors of real estate and infrastructure worldwide. The total score is a number between 0 and 100 and is compared with peers in a benchmark. The star rating (1 to 5 stars) is determined on this basis. NSI successively achieved 49 points (2018), 71 points (2019), 88 points (2020), 92 points (2021), 93 points (2022) and 94 points (2023). This translates into a five-star rating. In 2023, we were awarded Sector Leader in four categories: Global sector leader, Global Listed Sector Leader, Regional Sector Leader Europe and Regional Listed Sector Leader Europe.
ISO 50001
The ISO 50001 is an international energy management standard that ensures a systematic approach to energy management. ISO 50001 is a proven energy saving method with robust measurement to support energy reduction.
Energy labels
An energy label indicates how energy-efficient a building is and which energy-saving measures are still possible. The energy label class is determined on the basis of primary fossil energy consumption, expressed in kilowatt hours per square metre per year (kWh/m² yr). From 1 January 2023 office buildings are required to have energy label C or higher. That means annual energy consumption must not exceed 225 kWh per square metre. Below you can find our energy labels per building.
